Myanmar’s shadow National Unity Government (NUG) and the Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA) have agreed on a series of future steps to strengthen their cooperation following high-level discussions held via an online platform on 27 February.
The dialogue, which took place at approximately 14:00 local time, brought together the NUG Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the leading committee of the SRA to discuss operational, intelligence, and political leadership strategies.
Maung Saungkha, leader of the Bamar People’s Liberation Army (BPLA) and a key figure in the talks, confirmed on social media that both sides reached a consensus on mutual recognition and the collective building of revolutionary unity. A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement that any future conflicts between partner forces would be resolved exclusively through negotiation.
“We discussed matters concerning the SRA, as well as the status of units not yet included in the alliance,” Maung Saungkha said. “Crucially, we were able to confirm the NUG’s stance regarding forces that do not operate directly under its command.”
The meeting opened with remarks from Dr Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of the Union Prime Minister’s Office, and Salai William Chin of the SRA leading committee. During the session, NUG Defence Minister U Yee Mon explained the Ministry’s policies regarding local-based defence forces.
The delegation included several prominent NUG cabinet members, such as Home Affairs Minister U Lwin Ko Latt, Planning and Finance Minister U Tin Tun Naing, and Foreign Affairs Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung.
This engagement is seen as a vital step toward a unified command structure as the resistance enters a critical phase in its struggle against the military junta.
