Resistance Forces Overrun Strategic Police Outpost Near Naypyidaw Border, Killing Nine Junta Troops

July 25, 2026

By Ko Myo / MPA

MYOTHIT, Myanmar — Joint resistance forces operating under the Naypyidaw Military Region Command stormed and captured a strategic police station and military checkpoint along the border between Magway Region and the military regime’s administrative capital of Naypyidaw early Saturday morning, killing nine junta personnel including a major.

The pre-dawn assault targeted the Shwe Pan Police Station and its adjacent security checkpoint in Myothit Township around 3:00 AM on 25 July 2026. Joint revolutionary units successfully overran the facility after 45 minutes of heavy combat, according to an official statement issued by the Naypyidaw People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The targeted outpost—garrisoned by approximately 30 combined military and police personnel under the direct command of a major—holds strategic significance along the Magway–Kanbya–Myothit–Naypyidaw transport corridor.

During the post-battle clearance operation, frontline fighters seized a arsenal of military hardware, including three MA-1 assault rifles, one MA-2 light machine gun, one G-3 rifle, a 40mm grenade launcher attachment, 10 ammunition magazines, six 14-type landmines, nine 40mm grenades, nine hand grenades, an directional mine, nearly 200 rounds of mixed ammunition, two mobile phones, and 3.5 million MMK in cash.

Resistance troops also located a howitzer field artillery piece at the station, which they subsequently destroyed on-site due to logistical transport constraints.

“Several surviving soldiers and police officers sustained injuries and fled the facility during the heavy engagement,” a spokesperson for the Naypyidaw PDF confirmed, adding that resistance personnel subsequently torched the abandoned facility before executing a tactical withdrawal.

Among the deceased was a senior police sergeant reportedly notorious among local communities for systematic extortion and civilian abuse.

The operation was jointly executed by Battalion 803 and Battalion 903 operating under Military Region No. 2 of the Naypyidaw Military Region Command. Resistance commanders confirmed that all PDF personnel withdrew safely without sustaining any casualties.
