Junta Airstrike Kills Students in Sagaing Region’s Tabayin Township

December 5, 2025
A Myanmar military airstrike on a school in Tabayin Township, Sagaing Region, has killed multiple students and injured others, according to local resistance sources.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, a military jet dropped two bombs on a school in Oe Htein Kwin Village, completely destroying the building while classes were in session.
“We can’t confirm the exact number of casualties yet because the entire school was hit,” a local resistance fighter told MPA. “Many children were inside at the time, and several were injured. The full death toll remains unclear.”
Teachers were also among the casualties. “So far, we’ve confirmed the death of one teacher. Others suffered severe injuries—some lost limbs,” the source added.
The number of fatalities is still being compiled as rescue efforts continue.
The attack comes despite the junta’s repeated ceasefire declarations—from April 2–22, April 23–30, and most recently from May 6–31. However, airstrikes and artillery assaults have continued unabated across multiple regions in Myanmar.
